Empowering Youth in Ventura

Young people are a dynamic force for good, and the Ventura Downtown Lions Club is committed to supporting them as beneficiaries, partners, and leaders. Across our causes, we serve children and youth through education, mentorship, and opportunities to lead in service.

One of our proudest contributions is our connection to Lions Camps at Teresita Pines, a special place with deep history and a powerful mission. Originally founded in 1929, the camp became part of the Lions family in 1995 and has since been transformed into an ADA-accessible facility serving children of all abilities.

Today, Lions Camps at Teresita Pines offers:
• Accessible facilities with renovated cabins, dining halls, and pathways designed for children with disabilities, including those who are blind or vision impaired.
• Special camps for children with hearing impairments, muscular dystrophy, and multiple sclerosis — giving every child a chance to share in the camp experience.
• Activities that inspire confidence and fun, including swimming, archery, climbing, canoeing, and team sports.

By creating safe spaces for growth and leadership, Ventura Lions help ensure every child — regardless of ability — can experience the joy of community, the outdoors, and the friendships that last a lifetime.

Globally, Lions invest in youth through initiatives like Lions Quest, the Peace Poster Contest, and the Leo Club Program, empowering young people to become tomorrow’s changemakers. Locally, our work continues by connecting Ventura’s youth to these opportunities and encouraging them to lead with service.

Together, we are preparing the next generation of leaders, dreamers, and doers — right here in Ventura.
