Bringing Vision Care to Our Community
The Ventura Downtown Lions Club has a long history of serving the blind and visually impaired — a mission we remain deeply committed to as we enter our next century of service.
Through our partnership with SEE International and the Free Mobile Vision Clinic, we help bring essential eye health directly to underserved communities across Ventura County. Since opening our first clinic in Downtown Ventura in 2018, expanding to Oxnard in 2021, and then to Thousand Oaks in 2023, the program has continued to grow. Together, we have delivered thousands of pairs of glasses — including more than 2,000 in 2024 alone — and referred patients for medical concerns such as cataracts, diabetes, glaucoma, and macular degeneration.
These clinics, made possible through collaboration with the Lions Club, Rotary International, Salvation Army, and Westminster Free Clinic, ensure that vision care is accessible where it’s needed most.
